International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day
27.4.2023
The ER ICA held a number of events dedicated to the International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day.
On April 21, teachers and students of the ER ICA visited the Poltava Art Museum (art gallery) named after M. Yaroshenko, where a meeting was held with liquidators of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. They presented a book of stories about the accident from the people of Poltava who traveled to eliminate the consequences of the accident and their families. They talked about how they were preparing to leave for Pripiat, about the feeling of being at the nuclear plant.
On April 26, teachers and students of the ER ICA laid flowers at the monument to the victims of the accident at the Chornobyl NPP in Poltava and honored the memory of those who died as a result of this accident.
On the same day, the student self-government of the Institute organized an online meeting with students and teachers “The (Un)truth about Chernobyl”. Members of the student self-government, Kateryna Tsymbaliuk, Yelyzaveta Melnyk, and Glib Shapovalenko, independently prepared an interesting report with a presentation about the myths surrounding the Chernobyl accident, about the propaganda of the Soviet Union, and about the manifestation of this disaster in art.
