A guest lecture “RUSSIAN NUCLEAR TERRORISM: THE UKRAINIAN ASPECT” was held at the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
On the eve of the next anniversary of the tragedy at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which took place on April 26, 1986, the Department of Lanscape Gardening and Ecology invited the head of the Department of Radioecology and Remote Sensing of Landscapes of the Institute of Agroecology and Nature Management of the National Academy of Sciences Liudmyla Raichuk to the online meeting. Liudmyla Raichuk presented the report “RUSSIAN NUCLEAR TERRORISM: THE UKRAINIAN ASPECT”, which was a generalization of the results of the scientific institution’s work in this direction during the year of the full-scale invasion of Russia.
During the presentation and subsequent discussion, the issue of the current state of the environment on the territory of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, the impact of the Russian occupation of the territory of the plant and the spread of radioactive contamination to other areas, simulated explosion situations at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant and the use of various types of nuclear weapons on the territory of Ukraine and the impact on the environment and people.
