Science Days at the ICA

The creativity of the master of choral art Hryhorii Levchenko was discussed at the round table.

On April 11,  a round table was held in a mixed format as part of the Science Days at the Institute of Culture and Arts. Teachers, students, artists talked about Hryhorii Levchenko’s work in the context of the development of Ukrainian choral culture of the second half of the 20th – beginning of the 21st century. The organizer of the round table was Halyna Polianska, Candidate of Art Studies, Associate Professor of the Department of Musical Art and Choreography of LTSNU.

The Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Music of the Poltava V.G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University Olena Lobach collaborated with Hryhorii Levchenko for a long time. She spoke about him as a teacher, colleague, professor of the Poltava V.G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University. 

Olena Lobach told about the literature dedicated to the master and the famous Ukrainian folk choir “Kalyna”, which was founded by Mr. Levchenko.

Iryna Tsebrii, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Musical Art and Choreography of the Educational and Research Institute of Culture and Arts of LTSNU, said: “His contribution was decisive; first he created one of the wonderful amateur groups “Gorlytsia”, then he worked with the children’s academic choir. And then at the request of Zyazyun Ivan Andriyovych, he came to work at the university and there he created his greatest brainchild – the Kalyna choir, which is famous in Ukraine and far beyond its borders.”

Bachelor’s students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University took an active part in the discussion. They familiarized the participants of the round table with the information about Hryhorii Levchenko, which they had previously prepared.

The honored artist, composer, teacher Hryhorii Semenovych Levchenko was born on August 12, 1933 in the village of Grabarivtsi, Pyriatynskyi District, Poltava Region. He lived 89 years.
