Professor of the Department of Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Business Viktor Trynchuk took part in the conference “The Role of Museum Education in the Preservation of the Memorable Heritage”.
Almost 200 educators and museum workers from all over Poland including Viktor Trynchuk, Professor of the Department of Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Business took part in the conference entitled “The Role of Museum Education in the Preservation of the Memorial Heritage”, organized in March by the Małopolska Teacher Training Center in cooperation with the Museum of Memory of the Residents of Auschwitz and the Center of St. Maksimilian in Harmejas.
The present and remote participants of the meeting were greeted by Dorota Mlechko, director of the Museum of Memory of the Residents of Oświęcim. In her speech, she drew attention to the dynamic development of museum education in recent years, the extremely attractive offer of museums addressed to young people, and the desire to participate in the process of their education.
Barbara Ledvon, deputy director of the Center in Auschwitz, emphasized the important role that museum education plays in supplementing school education and in the educational process of forming a young person.
The need to educate young people in the accepted hierarchy of values, the need to develop attractive narrative forms to introduce students to the cultural and historical material heritage was argued by Halyna Tsimer, Vice Curator of Education of the Lesser Poland Region.
Marta Grazhynska, Commissioner for Educational Activities and Public Communications of the Royal Wawel Castle – National Art Collection, during her speech on the topic “Museums in the post-pandemic world of the 21st century. Trouble or hope?” told how museums in Poland and around the world have changed after the pandemic.
Marta Grokhovska, senior curator and head of the educational department of the Silesian Museum in Katowice, shared her thoughts on what a lecture in a museum should look like.
The participants of the conference were interested in the report on the preparation of excursions to museums by the educational institution in the context of appropriate adaptation of the museum offer to the needs of visitors with various educational needs.
