Students Explore Referring

Students explore referring at the initiative of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports administration.
Upon the initiative of IPES director Yurii Poluliashchenko, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University has entered into cooperation with Luhansk Regional Football Federation for the purpose of involving students to FFU referee training program. Students have started theoretical lessons and practical referring.
In addition, there is basketball judge training supported by Regional Basketball Federation and they have already brought bright results. The first year students Olena Zinova and Viktoriia Trekhleb have proved themselves as skilled scorekeepers at different district and regional competitions:
- Regional Men’s Tournament “Basketball Autumn”,
- Tournament among Educators of Kreminna District,
- Basketball championship of Kreminna District 3×3,
- Regional championship among the teens born in 1999
IPES students have a chance not only to master judging skills but to take part in the games. In February institute team participated in district futsal competitions. We do not have high results at the moment but this is not so vital. The important thing is game experience, judging and organizing skills. People become sport professionals not only by studying in the classrooms but working out in the gyms and sports arenas.
