Seminar-training “STOP Plagiarism. Cases of Verification of Qualification Work”

On March 21, the scientific seminar-training “STOP Plagiarism. Cases of Verification of Qualification Work” took place. 

A scientific seminar-training was held for students of the educational programs “Ecology”, “Agronomy”, “Landscape Gardening”, “Forestry”, “Earth Sciences” and other educational programs of the faculty. The speaker and moderator of the event was Iryna Kyrpychova, Associate Professor of the Department of Landscape Gardening and Ecology, member of the commission on ethics and academic integrity of the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

During the meeting, students learned about typical and common mistakes in writing and formatting scientific and qualification papers, which can lead to plagiarism. The main procedures and requirements for ensuring compliance with norms of academic integrity at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University are provided for in a number of documents that are publicly available on the university’s website.

At our university, the verification of research papers for uniqueness is carried out free of charge, using software and technical tools with the help of an online information system for detecting coincidences / identity / similarities, to which the university is provided access by a specialized company (ToV “Antiplagiat” Unichesk). The meeting participants learned about the capabilities and settings of the “Unichesk” program and learned how to decipher and analyze the written work verification report generated by this program.
