Events dedicated to Taras Shevchenko’s birthday

The Professional College took part in events dedicated to the 209th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko.

Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko is a great sage and the undying glory of the Ukrainian people. Under his words, all that is hidden in the depths of the people’s soul comes to life in a fiery word. The poetry of Taras the Great calls us to be honest and merciful, to sincerely love our people, our Ukraine, to fight for our faith and freedom.

On March 9, 2023, on the occasion of Taras Shevchenko’s birthday, students and teachers of the Professional College took part in the solemn events of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and the commemoration of the national genius in T.G. Shevchenko Park in Lubny, where community leaders, deputies of the Lubny City Council, representatives of the creative intelligentsia and the public were present. 

Traditionally, students of the Professional College of LTSNU remember the great poet during the Poetry Marathon, reading Kobzar’s poems.

Under the guidance of teacher T. Panteeva, a student Motunov Danylo took part in the All-Ukrainian competition “Cherry Garden Near the House”, which was aimed at deepening knowledge about the life and work of Taras Shevchenko and drawing attention to his extraordinary personality. Danylo took the third place in this competition.

The first-year students under the guidance of history teacher O. Karpenko visited the Lubny Museum of Local Lore and saw its exposition dedicated to the 209th anniversary of the birth of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko. During the excursion, the students got acquainted with the pages of the writer’s life and work. They discussed the role of Shevchenko’s poetry today, its relevance in the struggle of the Ukrainian people for their native land and nation.

Shevchenko’s poems always raised great and eternal issues of universal human values. We, the descendants of the Great Kobzar, need to remember the importance of these values for the Ukrainian nation.
