11.3.2023
The celebration of the 209th anniversary of the Great Kobzar’s birthday was held at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
209 years have passed since the birth of the Great Kobzar, but every word written by the poet is still relevant. The outstanding Ukrainian artist left many important messages, which became testaments and calls to action for Ukrainians.
On March 9, 2023, on the occasion of the next anniversary of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko’s birthday, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, which proudly bears his name, as usual on this day, held festive traditional events, which began in the morning in the assembly hall of the School No.10, the city of Lubny.
University students together with the Primary trade union organization organized a small flash mob, displaying the poet’s photo from individual parts to musical accompaniment and reading Kobzar’s poems.
After the end of the flash mob, students, employees and management of LTSNU joined the event commemorating the memory of the national genius in the park named after T.G. Shevchenko, where community leaders, deputies of the Lubny City Council, representatives of the creative intelligentsia and the public were present.
At the beginning of the event, the national anthem of Ukraine was played, and after the presenters’ speech about Kobzar’s poetic heritage, the floor was given to Oleg Sobolev, the first deputy mayor of Lubny, and Olena KARAMAN, the rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
Olena KARAMAN briefly told the history of the university and noted that it has had its current name — Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University — since 2008 and is already 102 years old. Olena Leonidivna emphasized that the institution is proud to bear the name of Taras Shevchenko – a symbol of Ukraine, a genius and a prophet, a poet and an artist, the spiritual father of Ukrainianism, whose poetry has long become an incorruptible and important part of the spiritual essence of the Ukrainian people.
Celebrations in the square near the monument of the Great Kobzar and the unique atmosphere of Shevchenko’s powerful words were also provided by the talented performances of the students of the Lubny State Technical University and Art School.
After honoring the memory of the genius of the Ukrainian people with a moment of silence, those present laid flowers at his monument, and students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University installed a basket with yellow and blue flowers – the symbolic colors of our state.
At the end of the event, the national anthem of Ukraine sounded again.
