The indelible memory of the great Kobzar

Students and staff of the university structural subdivisions, which are located in the city of Myrohorod, honored the great poet.

Taras Shevchenko is one of the most outstanding representatives of Ukrainian culture; his works are important not only for the Ukrainian people, but also for the whole world. In his works, the poet reflected the problems of society, the struggle for freedom and dignity, raised questions of morality and justice.

Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, as a center of education and science, cannot help but pay attention to the importance of Taras Shevchenko’s work for the development of culture and education in Ukraine. The study of the poet’s works, his life path and contribution to Ukrainian culture helps to form national consciousness, develop creative abilities and thinking of students.

A special day for every student and teacher of our university is March 9, when millions of people in Ukraine and abroad remember Taras Shevchenko and honor him as a great poet, artist, thinker and fighter for truth and freedom. And even wartime cannot become an obstacle to commemoration.

Representatives of the structural subdivisions hosted by the hospitable Myrhorod land: Faculty of Natural Sciences, Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies, Institute of Economics and Business; Brianka Professional College. The tradition of commemorating Taras Shevchenko was continued in Myrhorod, where the poet lived and worked for some time. They gathered near the monument to T. G. Shevchenko, where Mykhailo Sapizhak, the director of Brianka Professional College, spoke about the poet’s activities in Myrhorod and his importance in the life of the university.

Taras Shevchenko visited Myrhorod 5 times during his travels in Ukraine. He met with local artists, writers and intellectuals, exchanged thoughts and experiences.

One of the most famous monuments to Taras Shevchenko in Ukraine is the monument in Myrhorod, which was erected on the site where the poet’s house once stood.

Paying tribute to Taras Shevchenko and laying flowers at his monument in Myrhorod is not only an ordinary tradition, but also a way to preserve the memory of the great poet and his contribution to the culture and history of Ukraine. May this tradition live forever, and our descendants treat Taras Shevchenko with respect and continue to honor his memory.
