Today is a great day! Our glorious university is celebrating its 102nd anniversary!

From its foundation in 1921 to the present day, the university has gone through a long and thorny path: reorganizations, renaming, changes in political regimes and even several wars – all this Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University had to endure during its many years of history!

During its 102 years of functioning, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University has become a symbol of higher education in the Luhansk Region. More than one generation passed through its walls, thousands of students and teachers connected their lives with Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, which became their native Alma Mater.

It is very symbolic that the university celebrates its birthday on March 1, the first day of spring. Spring has always been a symbol of awakening, blossoming and new development. Thanks to highly qualified teachers, modern educational programs and European values, this comparison best suits Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

Unfortunately, in 2023, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University is going through a difficult period. Already for the second time, since 2014, Russian armed aggression and forced evacuation have hit the material and technical support and personnel of the university hard. Destroyed buildings and dormitories, dead and injured students and workers – all these are the consequences of an insidious attack by Russia.

However, thanks to its dedicated service and highly intellectual work, thanks to the courage and many years of experience of the university staff, it withstood this blow and continued its work and existence!

Dear colleagues, today, in the conditions of war, we are entrusted with an extremely responsible and honorable mission – training and education of a new generation of Ukrainians! Today, we are writing the history of our university with our own hands! Its further existence depends on us, we are sure that together as a single team we will overcome all difficulties. We will win, Ukraine will win too!

Dear teachers and students, allow me to congratulate you once again and wish you confidence in your abilities and unquenchable inner energy, personal courage and zeal, victory and a peaceful sky above your head!
