Ukrainian Luhansk in Modern Times

An open lecture by Oleksandr Naboka “Luhansk in the Context of Ukrainian History in Modern Times” was held.

Recently, Doctor of History, Head of the Department of History of Ukraine Oleksandr Naboka gave a qualifying open lecture for students and teachers of the University on the topic: “Luhansk in the Context of Ukrainian History in Modern Times”.

The event was dedicated to the importance of the Ukrainian population of the Luhansk region in the process of its socio-economic development at the end of XVI-nineteenth centuries. Noting that the history of the Luhansk region was the field of ideological manipulations by individual representatives of Russian/Soviet historiography, which considered the pre-imperial period as the stage of the existence of a “wild field”.

The last term refers to the lack of civilization in the region, the barbarism of local customs, the underdevelopment of the socio-economic system. Oleksandr Naboka, based on the scientific works of Ukrainian scientists, published and archival sources, proves the unreasonableness of such an approach to the history of the Luhansk region, the domination of which led to the formation of today’s claims against him by the Russian Putin leadership.

The lecture provoked a lively reaction from students and teachers who, with interest, considered the facts of the history of the region, which is native to many of them. The participants of the event expressed hope for the release of Luhansk region from the Russian occupation.
