LTSNU in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities

The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities as of January 2023 has been published.
In January 2023, more than 12,000 universities of the world were included in the next Webometrics Ranking Web of Universities (http://webometrics.info). According to it, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University took the 4887th place in the world ranking. In addition, we were ranked 3420th in the continental ranking, 1410th in the European ranking, and 416th among higher education institutions of Central and Eastern European countries. Our university took the 41st place among 306 Ukrainian higher education institutions in the ranking.
The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities has been compiled since 2004 by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council under the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. The developers publish it twice a year – in July and January. Universities are evaluated using a combination of the following indicators:
- Visibility – a combination of the number of external hyperlinks to the university domain calculated by Ahrefs and Majestic, ‒ 50%;
- Transparency (or Openness) – the number of citations of the works of the top 310 authors of the institution (the first thirty most cited authors are excluded) in Google Scholar – 10%;
- Excellence (or Scholar) – the number of publications by university scientists in international scientific journals, which are among the top 10% of the most cited in 27 fields of science according to the SCImago rating (for the five-year period 2017‒2021) – 40%.
