The defense of master’s theses took place at the Translation Studies Department.
On Friday January 27, 2023 at the Translation Studies Department of the Faculty of Foreign the defense of Master’s theses of Master students took place online on Zoom platform.
Acting Head of the Translation Studies Department, Ph.D., Associate Professor Svitlana Perova, Ph.D., Associate Professor Nadiia Demchenko, Ph.D., Associate Professor of the Department of Humanitarian and Social Disciplines of Poltava Yanina Tagiltseva of the State Agrarian University and Liudmyla Ovcharova, Vice Dean in charge of Educative Affairs at the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
full-time and part-time graduate students of the Translation Studies Department, majoring in 035.041 Philology Germanic languages and literatures (including translation), the first is English. Translation., successfully presented their works in Translation Studies.
A lively discussion with their works was caused by Nataliya Girenko “Peculiarities of the translation of an English-language literary fairy tale (based on the material of Lyman Frank Baum’s American Fairy Tales).” (Supervisor – S.Perova, Associate professor, Candidate of pedagogical sciences.); Olha Korinska “Peculiarities of prose fiction in translation (on the material of translations of Harper Lee’s novel “To Kill a Mockingbird”)”. (Supervisor – S.Perova, Associate professor, Candidate of pedagogical sciences.); Tetyana Kushnir “Characteristic features of the translation of a dramatic work (on the basis of translations into ещEnglish of Neda Nezhdana’s play “The One Who Opens the Door”)”. (Supervisor – O.Krysalo, Associate professor, Candidate of philological sciences.); Kateryna Obozna “Peculiarities of the translation of Richard Bach’s philosophical novel “Illusions. Adventures of the Messiah Mimokhit” in Ukrainian.” (Supervisor – O.Krysalo, Associate professor, Candidate of philological sciences.); Anastasia Ponamoreva “Translation of business idioms in correlation with the author’s style (based on the material of M. Thatcher’s memoirs)”. (Supervisor – N.Demchenko, Associate professor, Candidate of pedagogical sciences.). All defenses were accompanied by presentations with vivid examples of translation findings and solutions. All works were highly rated, and the master’s students expressed their desire to develop the acquired competences in further professional activities.
