Photo exhibition “Colors of the White Continent”

The opening of the charity exhibition of photographs “Colors of the White Continent” by Serhii Hlotov, a graduate of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, was held in the Lubny Art Gallery.

The opening of a charity author’s exhibition of photographs by Serhii Hlotov, a graduate biologist of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, “Colors of the White Continent”, was held in Lubny.

The author of the photos, Serhii Hlotov, is a creative and talented person – a graduate of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, an entomologist, Candidate of Biological Sciences, a researcher of the State Natural History Museum of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Lviv. Today, Serhii is at the most remote point of our country – at the “Akademik Vernadskyi” station in the Antarctic as part of the team of the 27th Ukrainian Antarctic Expedition. Serhii Hlotov is not only a scientist, but also a professional photographer, it is his photographs with unique Antarctic landscapes that are presented at exhibitions.

The organizer of the event was the Rector’s office and staff of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of LTSNU. This is already the second charity exhibition of Serhii Hlotov’s photos in Poltava region, organized by the university.

At the initiative of the author and organizer of the exhibition – the staff of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University – the exhibition is dedicated to the memory of the recently deceased defenders from the Lubny region, teachers, students and graduates of the university, all fallen Heroes and civilians of Ukraine. The opening of the exhibition was not hindered even by the lack of electricity, thanks to the professionalism of the staff of the Lubny Art Gallery under the leadership of Acting Director director of Mrs. Natalia Tsyganok, the opening took place.

The event began with a moment of silence commemorating the fallen Defenders-Heroes and civilians of Ukraine.

Next, the author of photographs Serhiy Glotov addressed the audience of Luben directly from the southernmost continent with the help of online technologies. The appropriate atmosphere for getting to know the unknown lands of Antarctica was created by a wonderful original video series created by the team of the 27th Arctic Expedition.

The speech for the opening of the exhibition was given to the chairman of the Academic Council of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine Vitalii Kurylo and Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Olena Karaman. The Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor Natalia Matsai told about the author and the exhibition. It was at the Faculty of Natural Sciences that Serhii Hlotov, the author of the photographs, studied biology.

The exposition consists of three parts. The first part is devoted to the participants of the 27th expedition, the second – to the unique colored landscapes of the harsh ice continent, and the third one was devoted to representatives of the unique fauna of the Antarctic.

Serhii Hlotov’s exhibition is a charity event. Even being in the Antarctic, Serhii is doing everything possible to speed up our Victory! He continues his volunteer work, which he started back in 2014, when he created the charity fund “People’s Support of ATO Soldiers”.

The first visitors have already made their donations to the Armed Forces, and some even bought author’s photo works – they also made their charitable contribution.

We hope that the exhibition will be able to be visited by as many residents of Lubny as possible, who will enjoy the art of photography and make a large charitable contribution to our Defenders. After the end of the exhibition, part of the photo, at the author’s request, will be transferred to the Lubny bean warehouse for the purpose of creating a more favorable emotional atmosphere.

The exhibition will last until February 26, 2023 in the premises of the Lubny Art Gallery at the address: 27 Volodymyrskyi Avenue.
