Virtual English Language Educator at the Faculty of Foreign Languages

From February 1, 2023 to April 30, 2023, the international project Virtual English Language Educator will be implemented at the Faculty of Foreign Languages with the support and assistance of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, Regional English Language Office.

The project is aimed at supporting higher education institutions of Ukraine, attracting highly qualified teachers from the USA to teaching and extracurricular activities in universities, who carry out their professional activities in the direction of teaching English to those who speak other languages. Such online teachers contribute to the study of the English language, and also participate in public diplomacy. Mr. Lewis T. Daugherty, who has experience in TESOL, such fields as education, community and territorial development, small business planning, business systems, intercultural integration, will work at FFL. Mr. Doherty will work at the Faculty of Foreign Languages according to the following workload: 1) Practical English language course (development of 4 skills with an emphasis on communicative methodology) – four hours per week; 2) American studies – 4 hours per week; 3) Weekly English conversation club – 2 hours per week.

Note that the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University of Ukraine has a long and successful history of cooperation with the US Embassy in Ukraine, which partly dates back to the organization and holding the 8th American Studies Summer Institute American Identity: Regionalism and Nationhood and continuing to support the activities of the information and cultural center “Window on America”, Starobilsk, during 2015-2022. The implementation of the Virtual English Language Educator program on the basis of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University will be the next step in effective cooperation between the two institutions.
