New Year’s meeting of the Youth Club of Eastern Cultures

On December 30, a meeting of the Youth Club of Eastern Cultures was held at the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
On the initiative of students of the EP “Language and Literature (Japanese, English)”, on December 30, the Department of Oriental Languages held a New Year’s meeting of the Youth Club of Oriental Cultures, dedicated to the celebration of the New Year`s Day and Christmas in Japan. Permanent members of the club and their advisors (O. Borzova and D. Perepadya) took part in the event.
Alina Nazarenko, a student of the EP “Language and Literature (Japanese, English)” told about kadamatsu – a symbol of the New Year in Japan. Dmytro Honchar demonstrated a presentation highlighting the current theory about the life of Jesus Christ in Japan. Samilo Artem prepared a report on the Japanese tradition of sending New Year’s cards. Oleksandra Voropayeva demonstrated a presentation about Christmas celebrations and the Christmas fair held in Tokyo. Diana Sayenko presented a report on the tradition of the first visit of the Japanese to the temple after the New Year`s Day. Oleksandra Borzova also gave a speech about Namahage (mystical creation) and New Year’s traditions and beliefs related to it.
The meeting took place in a friendly and festive atmosphere, the participants chatted, asked questions, and shared their thoughts. The speakers successfully immerse the audience in Japanese culture and traditions.
Summing up the meeting, Chinese language learners took the initiative to organize a meeting dedicated to the celebration of the Chinese New Year or Spring Festival in China, which is celebrated on January 21 in 2023.
