Academic Council Meeting

On December 23, a meeting of the Academic Council of the university was held remotely.


The following issues were considered on the agenda:

  • about the university budget for the 2023 fiscal year;
  • about the educational activities of the university’s professional colleges;
  • on awarding academic titles;
  • miscellaneous. 

After listening and discussing the report of Acting Chief Accountant, Deputy Chief Accountant of the university Olena Kozlenko and chairman of the Financial and Economic Commission Volodymyr Moroz, the Academic Council noted that the estimate of revenues and expenditures of the special fund for 2023 envisages receiving revenues in the amount of over UAH 59,000.00 thousand. The Academic Council identified the following items of expenditure as priority areas of expenditure: salaries, payment of communal services, purchase of equipment and inventory for the maintenance of the university, purchase of computer and office equipment, equipment for the educational process, scientific and methodical work, social security, bonuses for students, etc.

After listening to and discussing the report of the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Yaroslava Yurkiv, about the educational activities of the university’s professional colleges, the Academic Council noted that the university structure includes six professional colleges: Brianka Professional College, Kadiivka Pedagogical Professional College, Lysychansk Pedagogical Professional College, Rubizhne Professional College, Starobilsk Professional College, Professional College of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. 

Colleges train specialists at the educational and qualification level of junior specialist and the educational and professional degree of professional junior bachelor in the full-time form of education. 271 students were enrolled in the 1st course this year. The educational process in professional colleges is provided by 160 teachers.

Mykhailo Sapizhak, Director of Brianka Professional College, and Natalia Motunova, Director of the Professional College of LTSNU, took part in the discussion. They noted that, the staff of professional colleges has adapted to today’s conditions and organized the educational process at the appropriate level. The Rector of the University, Olena Karaman, noted that in today’s difficult conditions, professional colleges help to form a positive image of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

At the same time, the Academic Council identified problems that require a joint solution, in particular, a decrease in research activities of teachers and students and low activity of college teachers regarding the organization of joint activities with specialized departments of the university and educational institutions of the region.

According to the decision of the Academic Council, Tetiana Koknova was awarded the academic title of professor of the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology, Tetiana Sych received the academic title of professor of the Department of Public Service and Management of Educational and Social Institutions; Yurii Bezruchenkov received the academic title of associate professor of the Department of Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Business.

Among miscellaneous, changes were made to the Regulation on the organization of the educational process at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, changes to the Regulation on the Faculty of Foreign Languages; the Regulation on the Center for the Study of French Language and Culture was approved; scientific school “Sociology of Regions and Spatial Analysis of Society” under the leadership of prof. Ilia Kononov; scientific and educational-methodical works are recommended for publication; the topics of dissertations for obtaining the scientific degree of doctor of philosophy and changes in the composition of the Academic Council were approved.
