Saint Nicholas Day at the Faculty of Foreign Languages
20.12.2022
Lecturers and students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages congratulated Poltava schoolchildren on St. Nicholas Day.
At the beginning of December, the student self-government of the Faculty of Foreign Languages organized a fundraiser to congratulate children who suffered during the war on St. Nicholas Day. Students and lecturers understand the feelings of these children like no one else, since in 2015 the faculty was evacuated to Poltava, and already in 2022 the entire university.
In this difficult time for the country, it is the children who suffer first of all. They do not understand what is happening around them, the surrounding world is difficult for them. Many children in the country became orphans or lost one of their parents. A large number of children temporarily live with their relatives in another city, because their parents, for example, are in the ranks of the Armed Forces. There are also children who have suffered injuries and are currently undergoing rehabilitation away from home. Therefore, the purpose of the event was not just to congratulate them on the upcoming holidays, but to give children a little happiness and joy and comfort them in this difficult time.
Cooperating with many schools of Poltava and Poltava region, students and lecturers of the Faculty of Foreign Languages supported the Poltava Secondary School No. 20 named after Maria Chergynska, with which the Cooperation Agreement is planned to be signed. Today, IDPs and their children temporarily live in this school. The students talked with the children, congratulated them with tasty gifts, provided psychological support, and gave them positive emotions. We would like to thank everyone who participated in this event – the students, the teaching staff of the faculty, the university administration, because it left a pleasant memory in the hearts of the children and sowed the seed of love for one’s neighbor.
