Master class for the future applicants
13.12.2022
The Educational and Research Institute of Culture and Arts held a master class on graphics techniques (printing, dry needle).
On December 10, on the basis of the department of fine and decorative and applied arts, the teacher of the department, Oleksii Sobolevskyi, held a master class as part of the Open Day at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
Oleksii Valeriiovych showed the participants of the master class how to work in printmaking, dry needle graphic techniques. Work materials were distributed to everyone including special plastic plates, stencils of drawings and needles, which Oleksii Valeriiovych made with his own hands. A stencil with a pattern is placed under the plate, which is scratched on the plate or an author’s drawing is made. The quality of the print, the color of the image depends on the force with which the needle is pressed. After the image is applied with a needle, paint is applied to the plate, filling in every scratch. Next, the plate goes under the machine, which makes an impression on the paper under the press. Each plate can be used several times, but the circulation is limited. Each participant of the master class took away not only a finished print, but also the plate itself.
The children were satisfied, they got not only a new experience, but also an engraving that is absolutely unique. They were also shown how to properly sign their work according to the standards.
