Opening of the Docudays UA International Film Festival
9.12.2022
The ER ICA once again acted as a partner in holding the 19th Traveling International Documentary Film Festival on Human Rights “Docudays UA”.
On December 2, the opening of the Docudays UA Traveling Documentary Film Festival in Poltava Oblast was held in the “Film Vault” of the ER ICA of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. Students and teachers watched the film “And Every River” directed by Olesia Morgunets-Isaienko. The audience was waiting not only to watch the film, but also to have tea, discuss and communicate with the director.
The moderator was the teacher of the Department of Cultural Studies and Cinema and TV Arts, Olena Burim. Hanna Kiiashchenko, head of the Poltava branch of the Public Service of Ukraine, was also present. The director of the film Olesia Morgunets-Isaienko, taking into account the lack of light and a stable Internet connection, recorded a video appeal to our university.
In the film, the problem of Ukraine’s ecology was raised, namely the pollution of rivers. It should be taken into account that the film was shot before a full-scale war, which means that the situation could have worsened today. By the way, the Siverskyi Donets, which was also discussed in the film, is the cleanest river in Ukraine.
The theme of this year’s Traveling Docudays UA – “State of Emergency” – is very clear and close to all Ukrainians. A state of emergency is an exceptional situation when normal life and plans for the future are put on hold. And basic life needs and human rights are under constant threat… it seems that this is the state the world lives in…
But we do not despair! We gather and unite! And not only around solving problems, but also around life itself, its values, ideas of dignity and democracy.
We believe that we will definitely overcome this “state of emergency”, we will win, and there will be even more conscious Ukrainians, thanks in particular to this festival!
We also want to express our gratitude to the Poltava University of Economics and Trade, which helped with the organization of the event, which was threatened by emergency power outages!
