Master class of a famous Chinese artist

Students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages studying Chinese attended a master class by the famous artist and calligrapher Chi Shaoting.

On November 18, first-year students of the specialty “Language and Literature (Chinese, English)” and the teacher of the Department of Oriental Languages A. Samarkina. attended a master class by the famous artist and calligrapher Chi Shaoting.

Chi Shaoting is a teacher of fine arts, a member of the Public Culture Club of China (Weifang). She paints in the genre of 写意 (xiěyì) – conveying an idea, essence in a free style. This genre is distinguished by the free work of the brush, the use of a large amount of ink.

Unlike other traditional techniques, 写意 allows to focus not on the details of the object, but strives to convey the sensation or feeling that the object causes. Drawing in this genre, the artist reproduces a spiritual mood, therefore, her works contain generalization, hyperbolization, and abstraction.

Chinese painting fascinates with its excellence, philosophical content, dissimilarity to other types of world art, inspires, immerses in the world of nature, helping to understand its essence and live in harmony with it. A special place in Chinese painting is occupied by bamboo, which is a symbol of steadfastness and stability, a person of high moral qualities. During the event, participants learnt to draw bamboo, and at the same time, our students were able to hear Chinese spoken by a native speaker.

Polina Sazonova, Kalenska Margaryta and Janysh Dayana dared to demonstrate their achievements.

Girls, keep it up, there will be more!
