Attending a literary evening

Lecturers and students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages attended the literary evening of Yurii Andrukhovych in Poltava.

As part of a tour of Ukrainian cities, on November 11, a meeting with the Ukrainian poet, novelist, musician and translator Yurii Andrukhovych took place at Poltava Art Gallery.

The moderator of the event was the President of the International Literary Corporation MERIDIAN CZERNOWITZ and publisher Svyatoslav Pomerantsev. He talked with Andrukhovych about the writer’s work during the war, about the cultural diplomacy of Ukraine, in which the author is an active participant, about the future of Ukrainian literature.

Associate Professor of the Translation Studies Department Svitlana Perova, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages for Specific Purposes Svitlana Shpetna, Lecturer of the Translation Studies Department Olha Korinska, as well as students of the third year of the first (bachelor) level in the specialty 035.041 Philology. Germanic languages and literatures (including translation), first language is English. Translation (English and a second foreign language (Chinese)) Svitlana Yesakova and Mykhailo Kuznetsov, came to listen the Maitre.

During the event, Yurii Andrukhovych spoke about his own observations regarding the development of culture during the war. He noted that even in difficult conditions, Ukrainians pay a lot of attention to culture and history, in which they try to find answers to questions that have troubled them for centuries.

As it was announced before the meeting, Mr. Andrukhovych read an excerpt from “an unwritten book that may never be written.”
