In memory of Volodymyr Yavorivskyi

A lecture in memory of Volodymyr Yavorivskyi was held for students at the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology. 

A lecture on the topic “Volodymyr Yavorivskyi – a man, a fighter, a writer” was held on the Google meet platform for students of the 1st year majoring in “Preschool Education” at the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. 

During the class, the teacher of the Department of Philological Disciplines familiarized the awardees with the writer’s creative work, social and political activities.

Volodymyr Yavorivskyi was born on October 11, 1942 in the village of Teklivka, Kryzhopol district, Vinnytsia region, in the family of a collective farm worker.

After graduating from the philological faculty of Odesa University in 1964, he worked in newspaper editorial offices, on the radio, as a film scriptwriter, head of the Prose Department and deputy editor of the magazine “Motherland.

In 1989, he entered politics and became a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Yavorivskyi was a person of extraordinary energy and hard work. He had enough strength, will, and drive not only to write wonderful works, but also to be in the very thick of social and political events, to host the author’s radio program “Twenty Minutes with Volodymyr Yavorivskyi”, which was broadcast on the First Channel of Ukrainian Radio. He was a member of the Supervisory Council of the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Oleksandrovych was awarded many honors (a laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine named after Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko (1984), the Literary Prize named after Dmytro Zagul (2005), the Order of Merit III degree and Christ the Savior of the UOC KP, the jubilee medal “25 years of Independence of Ukraine”) .

The fighter for the Independence of Ukraine passed away on April 16, 2021.

Volodymyr Yavorivskyi did not remain aloof from the events and trends that Ukrainian society was living at that time.
