Adaptation of freshmen to the conditions of the educational process

Trainings “Adaptation of Freshmen to New Study Conditions” were held at the Professional College, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. 

In October-November 2022, the Professional College of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University held trainings within the framework of psychological support for the adaptation of students to the conditions of the educational process: “Adaptation of Freshmen to New Study Conditions.” The trainings were conducted by V.M. Donchyk, a practical psychologist of the social and psychological service of the college.

In the first days of study, “trying on” the role of a student, in addition to positive emotions, often causes a lot of anxiety caused by the new and unknown, and there are more questions than answers. And the effectiveness of students’ academic work, positive motivation for the learning process largely depends on the level of adaptation of first-year students to the new educational environment.

The purpose of the training was to learn more about each other, to identify with others, to teach students to work in a team, and to become emotionally closer in the group. The training provided an opportunity for students to assess their emotional state, establish friendships with fellow students and find their place in the student group. Psychological exercises and games were conducted, which made it possible to determine the character and inner state of each of the participants.

The trainings took place in a friendly, fun atmosphere. We hope for successful adaptation of first-year students to the educational process and wish them success in their studies!
