Ukrainian language is the language of Victory
9.11.2022
On November 9, our country celebrates the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language.
This holiday was initiated by the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 1241/97 dated November 6, 1997: “To establish in Ukraine the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, to be celebrated annually on November 9, on the Day of Commemoration of the Venerable Nestor the Chronicler.” Once on this day, November 9, children were sent to school, parents went to church and put a candle in front of the saint’s image, believing that he would help the children in their studies.
This year, with the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, the holiday took on a special significance. The Ukrainian word has become a symbol of the unity of Ukrainians who are ready to defend the territorial integrity and independence of the state, defend and develop it for the sake of future generations.
Every year on November 9, the traditional Radiodictation of National Unity is held for all citizens of Ukraine and those who wish to take part in the All-Ukrainian event. Teachers of the Department of Philological Disciplines and students of the specialties “Primary Education. Ukrainian Language and Literature”, “Preschool Education” of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology participated in the writing of the dictation-2022, the text of which was read live on all platforms of the Public People’s Artist, Hero of Ukraine Ada Rogovtseva, written by Iryna Tsylyk, a modern Ukrainian writer and director.
The feeling of unity at this time is simply, as they say, over the top, when together, in one hour, millions of Ukrainians, staying in different places and corners of the world, honor and bow to their native word. Our language is unique. Its sound is incredible. The teaching staff of the Department urges to speak Ukrainian correctly and cleanly, to cultivate love and respect for it, to glorify and increase its prestige.
