“Modern Trends in the Development of Landscape Gardening”

A professional seminar “Modern Trends in the Development of Landscape Gardening” was held at the Department of Landscape Gardening and Ecology. 

On October 26, a professional seminar for students of natural sciences and agricultural specialties on the topic “Modern Trends in the Development of Landscape Gardening” was held at the Department of Landscape Gardening and Ecology of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. 

The seminar was conducted by Serhii SKAKOVSKYI, assistant of the Department of Landscape Gardening and Ecology. Students and teachers of the Faculty were invited to the meeting.

They listened with interest about the technologies for creating garden and park compositions in large cities, about the range of plants used for landscaping, about plant care, about the economic component of urban improvement. Serhii Ivanovych said that the Ukrainian market is now saturated with a large assortment of foreign plant species, but he recommended that local plants should be given preference when landscaping any areas, because they are more viable in the event of adverse climatic conditions. 
The speaker explained in detail and presented the system of drip splicing of garden and park facilities, emphasizing that it is ideal for this group of plants. Revealed the specifics of the fight against plant diseases and pests.
Students asked a number of questions. Are there any plants that cannot be used in urban landscaping and why? How to effectively plan an estimate for landscaping a garden and park facility? About the beneficial effect of tree plantations on the quality of life of people in the city. Serhii Ivanovych gave meaningful answers to all questions.

At the end of the seminar, the winners and teachers expressed their gratitude to the speaker and their desire to continue working in seminar classes on this topic.
