Department of Production Technologies and Professional Education during the period of military aggression of the RF

Since February 24, 2022, significant changes have taken place at our University and the Department of Production Technologies and Professional Education.

Since the beginning of the military aggression, the leadership and staff of the university including the teachers of the Educational and Research Institute of Commerce, Serving Technologies and Tourism and the staff of the department, had to solve many complex issues regarding the organization of the educational process in rather difficult conditions, establishing contact with students, helping teachers and students to evacuate from territories where hostilities were actively taking place. It was especially difficult to organize the final certification. However, the Department quite successfully coped with all tasks.

During the time that has passed since the beginning of the military aggression of the Russian Federation, the Department of Production Technologies and Professional Education managed to preserve almost the entire contingent of higher education applicants, to successfully conduct the final certification in the 4th year. Out of 82 graduates, 80 students received bachelor’s degrees.

This year’s admissions campaign was difficult, but the staff of the department was able to increase its contingent by 109 higher education applicants.

Scientific and pedagogical workers of the Department prepare and publish scientific and methodological recommendations, publish articles and theses of reports, participate in conferences, and undergo internships. Thus, during this time, the Department prepared 3 articles, which were submitted to periodical scientific publications included in the Scopus scientometric database, one was published and two educational and methodological publications are being prepared.

Active scientific work is being conducted with students. During the period of the second forced evacuation, under the leadership of the department’s teachers, three collections of student scientific works “Scientific search of young researchers” with a total number of 71 articles were prepared and published.

The staff of the Department is establishing partnership relations with educational institutions and enterprises in the new city of location. In September, three cooperation agreements were signed with the Lubny Vocational Lyceum and two car service stations.

To date, online classes with students of higher education have been organized in the Teams program, distance courses have been completed on the Moodle platform.

The Department has somewhat updated its teaching staff. And also, Natalia Ihorivna Hirenko, teacher of the  department, gave birth to a boy. Life goes on!

The Department of Production Technologies and Professional Education of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University continues to work hard, has many plans and looks optimistically into the future.
