Workshop within a framework of Ukrainian Leaders Development Program

An online workshop was held at the Faculty of Foreign Languages as a part of a Practical Course of English Language with the involvement of a facilitator from the USA (Ukrainian Leaders Development Program).
Ukrainian Leaders Development Program (ULDP) is supported by The Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund, financial support U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in partnership with the company Global Ties U.S. Within the last phase of the grant project lecturers participating in the programme were tasked with conducting a series of online workshops with the involvement of project facilitators.
Thus, on October 20, lecturer of the Translation Studies Department, Vice Dean in charge of Social and Humanitarian Affairs, Olha Korinska held an open workshop, during which she used the methodology aimed at improving spoken foreign language skills “Facilitating Conversation Club”. The workshop was attended by students of the following specialties: Philology. Germanic languages and literatures (including translation), the first is English. Translation (English, Chinese); Philology. Oriental languages and literatures (including translation), the first is Chinese. Language and literature (Chinese, English); Philology. Oriental languages and literatures (including translation), the first is Japanese. Language and literature (Japanese, English).
Mr. Nicholas Gordon, Marketing and Outreach Coordinator of English Language Programs of the US Department of State, was invited as a foreign facilitator. Mr. Nicholas highly appreciated the level of preparation of the course lecturer for the discipline classes. Same was about the quality of the material that was presented for studying the subject, in terms of the knowledge gained at the workshops that were held in the period from August to September.
International activity is an important component of the work of the Translation Studies Department. Therefore the lecturers of the Department use every opportunity to gain new knowledge, exchange experience with foreign colleagues and hold classes with native speakers. According to students, the workshop was a great opportunity to get an unforgettable experience of communicating with a native speaker.
