University-wide festive events in the city of Lubny

University-wide festive events dedicated to the Day of Defenders and Defendresses of Ukraine took place in the city of Lubny.

On October 14, when Ukraine celebrates several holidays including the Day of Defenders and Defendresses, the Day of Cossacks and the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University held various festive events.

Thus, the teaching staff and students of the university visited the Lubny Regional Hospital with a concert program for defenders who are currently undergoing treatment and rehabilitation there. After the concert, the students handed the present defenders gift sets, the funds for which were collected as part of the charity actions “14 UAH until October 14” and “Give in the waste paper – ZSU help”, organized by the student self-government on the eve of the holiday. At the end of the event, everyone signed their autographs on the flag of Ukraine.

In addition to holding a festive event, the administration of our educational institution concluded a cooperation agreement with the Lubny Regional Hospital for War Veterans of the Poltava Regional Council on this day.

Festive events were continued at the Oles Donchenko Children’s Park Stadium. The solemn concert was opened by the host Olena Pavlenko, an employee of the Center for Culture and Leisure of LTSNU.

Rector of the university, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Olena Karaman addressed the students, guests and residents with a welcoming speech. The concert program featured Ukrainian songs performed by students and teachers of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. Among the participants of the concert: Yaroslava Tsiulina, a student of the Institute of Culture and Arts; Larisa Borysenko, art and choreography teacher, soloist of the Poltava Philharmonic; first-year students: Ania Avvakumova, Daria Potapenko, Tetiana Protsenko; as well as a guest musician, participant of the TV show “Voice of the Country”, military serviceman David Maksaka.

After the concert, the master of sports of Ukraine of international class, the Director of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports, Oleksandr Dubovyi, took over the baton and addressed the audience with a patriotic speech. He invited real Ukrainian Cossacks to the shell “Bogatyr dumbbell” weighing 50 kg, whose weight was increased to 60 and 70 kg, respectively, during the competition.

Simultaneously with the concert program, military education and training events, an exhibition of small arms, and a demonstration of medical and sanitary training took place. A charity fundraiser was also held in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, organized by the “CF Melek” and “Blahodar Zhytta” foundations.

The team of the Lubny City Public Organization of the disabled “Chernobyl Veterans” took part in the celebration, which prepared Cossack kulish for the guests and participants of the holiday in the field kitchen. After the festive events, the field kitchen with kulish became a real gem of the holiday, because everyone present was very hungry after a long stay in the fresh air, so a hot dish was very appropriate.

The events were held with the support of the head of the Lubny District Council Tetiana Kachanenko, the Lubny City Council, the head of the Lubny District Organization of the Trade Union of Science and Education Workers of Ukraine Liudmyla Hrytsaenko, a farmer from the village of Berezivka Mykola Bereza and People’s Deputy of Ukraine Anastasia Liashenko.
