The ER IHIRSPS congratulates on the holiday

The staff of the Educational and Research Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences congratulates defenders of Ukraine on their holiday.

On October 14, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Defenders and Defendresses of the State. On this day, Ukrainians celebrate not one holiday, but several.

In Ukraine, the history of this holiday has deep roots. Although it was introduced at the time of the baptism of Kievan Rus, the Mother of God was most venerated in the 12th century. It was the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God that was considered the greatest holiday among Zaporozhian Cossacks. They built many temples dedicated to this important event. On October 14, the Cossacks traditionally elected a new chieftain.

The Feast of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God was considered the day of the creation of the UIA (Ukrainian Insurgent Army). And in 2014, Volodymyr Viatrovych (Director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance) suggested introducing October 14 as the Day of Defenders of Ukraine. In 2021, this holiday was renamed the Day of Defenders and Defendresses of Ukraine. The “Strength of the Invincible” – it was the slogan for this holiday for the first time.

The war in Ukraine has been going on for 8 years, and on February 24, 2022, the Russian Federation insidiously launched a large-scale invasion of our country, but the defenders are heroically and courageously holding back the attack of the invaders.

Dear friends, we congratulate you on October 14! We greatly appreciate your mighty strength, strong defense, and incredible endurance. We wish that fortune always accompanies you on the road, that love and abundance reign in your families, that warmth and coziness warm your soul. May all roads lead to happiness and new victories, any endeavors give excellent results and a good mood. Let any peak obey your courage and perseverance. Happy holiday!
