The lecturers of the Department of Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Business took part in an open meeting with the State Tourism Development Agency.
The meeting was held with the head of the State Tourism Development Agency Mariana Oleskiv and contained useful information about the strategic goals and main directions of the Agency’s activities (hereinafter STDA). Thus, in the conditions of Russian aggression against Ukraine, new statistical data were demonstrated, in which the stoppage of inbound tourism and the decrease of domestic tourist flows in Ukraine are monitored. However, our country is currently attracting a lot of interest in the world, which gives a good opportunity to convert it into strong tourist flows after the victory.
Therefore, in order to support tourism in the current conditions, STDA took the initiative to unite the efforts of the state and the public in order to develop a strategy for visiting objects and places of memory related to Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine.
“Our main task is to create a professional platform for discussion, which should become a field of joint search and proposals. A separate issue that deserves special attention should be the prevention of cases of excessive tourism and desacralization of the sacrifice made by Ukrainians for the sake of victory at such facilities,” Mariana Oleskiv emphasized.
Thus, STDA as an institution is ready to create conditions for the development of dialogue between the professionals and communities.
In turn, teachers and students of the Department of Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Business showed interest in this project and expressed a desire for further cooperation with the State Tourism Development Agency.
