Knowledge Day in the city of Myrhorod

On September 15, Myrhorod hosted a solemn event – Knowledge Day, dedicated to the beginning of the new academic year. 

On this festive day, students and teachers of three structural subdivisions (Faculty of Natural Sciences; Institute of Economics and Business; Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies), who were hosted by the hospitable Myrhorod community, gathered together for a solemn event to mark the beginning of the new 2022-2023 academic year and dedication of first-year students to students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

Even the most difficult times of war trials will not break the spirit of the university and, despite the enemy’s attempts to destroy our peaceful life, the team will fulfill its honorable mission – to teach and educate real professionals – citizens-patriots for Ukraine.

The festivities began with congratulatory words from the heads of educational structural subdivisions that conducted the admissions campaign in Myrohorod region, including: Natalia Matsai, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor; Valerii Khmel, Director of the Institute of Economics and Business, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Honorary University Professor; Hennadii Mohylnyi, Director of the Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor and Mykhailo Sapizhak, Director of the Brianka Professional College, Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine.

The head of the Taras Shevchenko LNU Supervisory Board, deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Oleksii Dniprov, addressed our students with a video greeting and congratulated the first-year students on the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, which will be associated with one of the best higher educational institutions of our country, the legendary, indomitable Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. He wished the first-year students to work successfully on the educational front and optimally use the time to acquire knowledge, as this knowledge will be needed for the construction and development of our state after the victory over the aggressor.

Representatives of the leadership of the Myrhorod district and the city also came to the celebration, who welcomed the students and teachers of the university with open hearts. Natalia Hyrka, head of the Myrhorod District Council, made a welcoming speech; Antonyna Nikitchenko, head of affairs of the Executive Committee of the Myrhorod City Council, and Tetiana Kolybelnyk.

The People’s Pop Vocal Studio “Soniashnyk” of the Center for Aesthetic Education of the City of Myrhorod (the director is Honored Pop Artist of Ukraine Olena Aleksiienko) delighted the audience with the song “Singing for Ukraine”, and the People’s Choreographic Circle “Vesnianka” (the director is Olena Hula) presented the choreographic composition “Happiness is …”.

The participants of the event expressed their sincere gratitude to all defenders who defend our country today. However, the war takes away the most valuable thing – the lives of Ukrainians… Unfortunately, the bitter fate did not pass by the people of Shevchenko. Therefore, everyone present honored the memory of the dead with a moment of silence. Despite the temporary troubles, our university staff is confident that we will win, because the truth is with us.

The end of the holiday was the dedication of first-year students and the joint performance of the national anthem of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

This is the 101th time that our educational institution begins a new academic year with hope, faith and strength to take confident steps forward on the path of the future to victory!
