Student Mobility With the University of Great Britain

A student of the Faculty of Foreign Languages took part in an inter-university mobility program with the University of Bath, Great Britain.
The third-year student of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, specialty “035.041 Philology. Germanic languages and literatures (including translation), first language is English. Translation (English and a second foreign language (Chinese))” Mariana Maksilevych was able to participate in an inter-university mobility program with the University of Bath, Somerset County, Great Britain. University of Bath, is a public educational and research institution; founded and awarded a royal charter in 1966. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, 32% of the university’s research projects received the highest possible rating of 4*, defined as world-leading in terms of originality, significance and integrity. The institution’s annual income for 2020-2021 was £289.5 million, of which £37.2 million came from research grants and contracts.
Such an opportunity of student mobility was opened for students of the Luhanks Taras Shevchenko National University as one of the results of a series of consulting sessions of the head of the international relations department of the LNU Iryna Myhovych with representatives of the British University regarding the development of an algorithm for the active phase of cooperation between the two institutions of higher education. The algorithm also includes the following directions:
- 1) support in the purchase / installation of technical equipment;
- 2) improving the conditions for providing services for the university library (taking into account the peculiarities of the online repository system);
- 3) joint development of professional training programs for scientific-pedagogical and administrative staff (aspects of the process of internationalization in higher education institutions, including COIL technology in the teaching-learning process), etc.
In accordance with the generally accepted system of European student mobility, which is based on the principles of the credit-model (or transfer credit-accumulation) system, the student was chosen a number of disciplines for study during the winter semester, including Introduction to comparative politics (6 ECTS credits), International organization (6 ECTS credits), Culture & national identity (6 ECTS credits), etc. The stay program also includes familiarization with the structure and organization of the educational process at the University of Bath for students of all levels and forms of education, visits to research laboratories and centers, communication with representatives of the international support service (including for students) at the university, etc.
