Online event “Effective methods of teaching and learning during war” by “Progresylni”

The lecturer of the Translation Studies Department Olha Korinska and the lecturer of the Department of Oriental Languages Olena Ovcharenko joined the unique online event “Effective methods of teaching and learning during the war”, organized by “Progresylni”.
The speaker of the event was Barbara Oakley, a professor of engineering at Oakland University, researcher, writer, author of the most popular course on Coursera.
Her research interests include the complex patterns of neuropsychology, their impact on human social behavior, and pedagogy as the science of teaching excellence. Dr. Oakley’s research has been described as “revolutionary” in Wall Street Journal, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, The New York Times. She has received numerous national teaching awards, including the American Society for Engineering Education’s Chester F. Carlson Award for Technical Innovation in Engineering Education. She wrote such world bestsellers as Uncommon Sense Teaching (Penguin Random House 2021), A Mind for Numbers: How to Excel at Math and Science (Even If You Flunked Algebra), (Penguin, 2014); Mindshift: Break Through Obstacles to Learning and Discover Your Hidden Potential (Penguin, 2017).
Dr. Oakley has had many adventures throughout her life. She rose from Private to Captain in the US Army. At the same time she was recognized as an outstanding military scientist. She also worked as a translator, communications expert at the South Pole Station in Antarctica.
During the webinar, educators considered the most effective methods of teaching during the war and under the conditions of distance education. The teachers had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge about the general features of the pedagogical process, and discussed in detail the specific technologies of foreign language learning.
In general, participation in the webinar not only enriched theoretical knowledge with world experience, but also made it possible to get acquainted with innovative forms of work of scientific and pedagogical workers, based on the psychophysiological characteristics of a person.
