Academic Council Meeting

On August 31, a meeting of the Academic Council of the University took place in a mixed full-time and distance mode.
The following issues were considered on the agenda:
- about the beginning of the new 2022-2023 academic year;
- on approval of the academic council’s work plan for the 1st semester of the academic year 2022-2023;
- on approval of changes to educational programs and curricula for the academic year 2022-2023;
- miscellaneous.
At the beginning of the meeting of the Academic Council, the Rector of the University Olena Karaman congratulated everyone present on the start of the new 2022-2023 academic year and wished them success in the field of education.
After listening to and discussing the report of Olena Karaman, the Academic Council noted that on August 15, 2022, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University began the new 2022-2023 academic year in the conditions of a full-scale war between Russia and Ukraine and the second displacement, starting in 2014; significant loss of human, material, technical, financial, and informational resources; internal and external migration of scientific and pedagogical workers and students; reduction of personnel potential and the number of students; decrease in the level of indicators of scientific and international activity and, as a result, weakening of positions in domestic and international ratings. At the same time, thanks to the unity of the staff around the common goal – victory and preservation of the university – Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University once again demonstrated a clear civic position, heroism, indomitability; confirmed its high reputation, national status, ability to self-organize and recover in a new place in a situation of uncertainty, unpredictability, threat to existence.
During the report, Olena Leonidivna singled out the regulatory documents governing the administration of the Higher Education Institution, determined the location bases of the structural subdivisions of the university, approved the forms and schedule of the educational process in 2022-2023.
In order to ensure a successful educational process at the university, a number of measures were taken and the problems, external and internal challenges faced by the university as a result of the war between Russia and Ukraine and the results of preparatory work for the new 2022-2023 academic year were analyzed. Thus, the main priorities of the university’s development in conditions of martial law and the second transfer from Luhansk to Poltava region were determined.
At the meeting, the work plan of the Academic Council for the 2022-2023 academic year was heard, discussed and approved.
Yaroslava Yurkiv, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, spoke about the approval of changes to educational programs and curricula for the academic year 2022-2023.
Among miscellaneous, scientific and educational-methodical works were recommended for publication, changes were made to the lists of subjects of free choice for students of the first (bachelor) and second (master) levels, a collective scientific work was nominated for participation in the competition for winning the M.I. Kostomarov Prize, changes were made to the composition of the one-time Specialized Academic Council and the composition of the Academic Council.
