LNU Teachers have Translated a Book
28.1.2016
LNU teachers jointly with Comparative Education Research Center of the University of Hong Kong have translated a book “Comparative Education Research: Approaches and Methods”.
Comparative education greatly effects modern state education policy, promotes development of world education space and provides a dialogue for different cultures. Post-Soviet countries take intense interest in comparative education researches. For a long time these countries were under the “Iron Curtain” and had a distorted interpretation of processes in foreign education systems.
Under such conditions methodological knowledge is of great importance to develop comparative pedagogy. “Comparative Education Research: Approaches and Methods” describes interesting and important methodological conclusions. The book has been translated into Russian for the first time.
This book is the second edition. The first one was published by famous and expert modern comparatists Mark Bray, Bob Adamson and Mark Mayson. This is the main coursebook in comparative education in the world. It is translated into Chinese, Farsi, French, Italian, Japanese and Spain.
Russian translation was carried out within the activity of Comparative Education Association created at the premises of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University in 2009. The Association represents Ukraine in the World Council for Comparative Education Societies.
Work on the book started in January 2014 and the idea was aroused in 2013. Book release was supposed to be in October 2014 but challenging situation in our country and forced evacuation of the university have caused the change of publication day. Scientific editor of Russian edition is Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Director of the Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Leonid Vakhovskyi. University lecturers Maksym Vakhovskyi and Ihor Roznatovskui have been working on book translation.
The book is interested for the students of pedagogical specialties especially for the master’s, postgraduate and doctoral students. It may be applied as a study guide. Also it may be useful for all researches who work on comparative education problems.
