16.8.2022
Teachers of the Faculty of Foreign Languages took part in the Ukrainian Leaders Development Program.
July and August were busy at the Faculty of Foreign Languages. Faculty teachers Lyudmila Ovcharova and Olha Korinska took part in the grant program Ukrainian Leaders Development Program, supported by The Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund, financial support U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in partnership with the company Global Ties U.S.
The full course program was designed to cover ten virtual learning workshops on various topics such as: Academic Writing Strategies, The Five Parts of a Story: Valuing the Student Experience, and others. The purpose of the classes was to teach teachers of Ukrainian educational institutions to introduce new technologies and information resources into their teaching activities.
As of today, teachers of the Faculty of Foreign Languages have completed the first block of training and have undergone such trainings as: The Mountain in Every Story: Using Plot to Discuss Literature in the English Language Classroom, Building New Skills on New Topics Using Nearpod for Engagement, I’m Going to Tell you a Story: Using Storytelling to Promote English Fluency, Creating Digital Scavenger Hunts for ELLs Using Google Docs.
The Ukrainian Leaders Development Program brought together teachers from the United States and Ukraine to share ideas, resources, and activities related to teaching and learning English. With the aim of promoting mutual cultural exchange, establishing contacts between Ukrainian and foreign professionals in the field of education, as well as giving Ukrainian higher education students the opportunity to practice communicating in English with native speakers, training facilitators will also participate in virtual classes with Ukrainian teachers and their students.
During the trainings, our teachers gained experience in the use of pedagogical tools and methods, which they will introduce into the educational process in the classroom as early as August 15 of this year. At the same time, in September and October, they will be able to invite facilitators from the USA to their classes online, which will be a great opportunity for students of all courses to get an unforgettable experience of communicating with native speakers.
