The teaching staff of the Faculty of Foreign Languages took part in the Ukrainian Leaders Development Program.
Teaching staff of the Faculty of Foreign Languages consisting of Vice Dean for Educational Work, lecturer of the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology Liudmyla Ovcharova, Vice Dean for Social and Humanitarian Work, lecturer of the Translation Studies Department Olha Korinska and lecturer of the Department of Foreign languages for specific purposes Oksana Husakova have been actively participating in the grant programme Ukrainian Leaders Development Program for the past three weeks supported by The Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund, financed by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in partnership with Global Ties U.S.
The programme includes ten virtual educational seminars on topics such as: Development of communication and cultural curiosity; Academic writing strategies; Using storytelling to promote English fluency, etc. After the seminar cycle, facilitators from the USA will join Ukrainian teachers and their students in virtual classes, working together on the implementation of new pedagogical tools, techniques and information resources, etc. As of today, teachers of the Faculty of Foreign Languages have completed such trainings as: Social Emotional Learning (SEL): What Is It and How to Implement It, Beyond Realia: Cultivating Conversation and Cultural Curiosity, Reading is Boring!, Amplifying ELL’s Voices: Strategies for Teaching Poetry, Facilitating Conversation Club, Quizziz and Quizlet – Supporting Interactive Learning Both Inside and Outside the Classroom.
During the trainings, teachers gain experience in the use of pedagogical tools and methods, which they plan to implement in the educational process as early as August 15 this year – the date of the start of face-to-face (offline) studies at the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
