Participation in the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen

The delegation of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University took part in the Second Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen.

On July 23, a delegation of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, led by rector Olena Karaman, took part in the Second Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, initiated by the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska.

This year’s theme of the event was the future of Ukraine and the world in the context of post-war reconstruction. The main discussion panels were devoted to the following issues: forced migrants as a result of the largest migration crisis in Europe since the Second World War; children and the educational process; physical and mental recovery of Ukrainians; women, their role in decision-making within the processes of reconstruction of Ukraine.

The event was held in the format of a telebridge between different cities of the world. The main studio was located in Ukraine (Sophia Cathedral of Kyiv, the historical center of Kyiv), four others – in Brussels, Warsaw, London and Washington.

From Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, which is currently located in Poltava region – the cities of Poltava, Lubny, Myrhorod, rector Olena Karaman; Associate Professor of the Pedagogy Department Serhii Mamychenko; student of the Educational and Research Institute of Culture and Arts Diana Barannyk were invited to the event.

The Second Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen was attended by many first ladies, including the wives of the heads of Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Serbia, Israel, Germany, Turkey, Greece, Belgium, Belize, Ecuador, Spain, Canada, France, the United States, the Council of Europe, etc. 

During the event, the Rector of our University Olena Karaman managed to communicate with the founder of the Summit, the first lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhii Shkarlet, the Vice-Prime Minister – the Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Maliar, Rector of Taras Shevchenko  National University of Kyiv Volodymyr Bugrov, Vice-Rector of Donetsk National Technical University Victoria Voropayeva and others. The issues of the functioning of education and Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University in the conditions of martial law and the post-war period were discussed.

Participants of the Second Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen raised $3.2 million for ambulances.

In general, such a large-scale event became a confirmation of the unprecedented support of Ukraine by the whole world in the fight against Russian fascism and the inevitability of the Victory of the Ukrainian people.
