Ukrainian Leaders Development Program

Liudmyla Ovcharova, a teacher of English and French, became a participant of the grant program.

According to the competition for participation in the Ukrainian Leaders Development Program announced in June 2022 with the support of The Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund, financed by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in partnership with the company Global Ties U.S., the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​sincerely congratulates its participant, teacher of English and French languages, deputy dean for academic work Ms. Liudmyla Ovcharova. The program is aimed at professional development of English language teaching skills for teachers of higher education institutions of Ukraine. It aims to bring together seven American TESOL professionals – graduates of the US Department of State’s English Language Fellows Program – as virtual workshop facilitators, as well as 50 Ukrainian English language teachers. The program will include ten virtual learning workshops on a variety of topics such as Communication Development and Cultural Curiosity; Academic writing strategies; Using storytelling to promote English fluency, etc. After the seminar cycle, facilitators from the USA will join Ukrainian teachers and their students in virtual classes, working together on the implementation of new pedagogical tools, techniques and information resources.

The coordinators of the program in 2022 are Mr. Nicholas Gordon and Mr. Luis Perea. Nicholas Gordon heads all English language development programs at Georgetown University, the USA, supported by the US Department of State. In 2017-2019, he was an English Language Fellow in Ukraine at the National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”. In 2021, the Alphabet Publishing House published his teacher’s guide “Conversational Writing – An Interactive Approach”.

Luis Perea is a content manager at the World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) and an EFL teacher in Klaipėda, Lithuania in the International University Summer Program 2022. In 2017-2019, he was an English Language Fellow in Ukraine at Mykolaiv National University.
