Awarding diplomas to foreign students

Diplomas were awarded to foreign students at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

On June 23, during the last meeting of the University Academic Council in the current academic year, a significant event took place – the awarding of diplomas to foreign citizens who graduated with a bachelor’s degree at the Faculty of Foreign Languages.

It should be noted that Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University is one of the leaders among all higher education institutions in Ukraine in providing high quality educational services to foreign citizens, as the university has been operating as a multicultural and multilingual center of East Ukrainian and Poltava regions.

In 1990s, a number of author’s methods of working with foreign students were introduced. In 2014 – at the beginning of the Russian military aggression – more than 2,000 foreign citizens from Turkmenistan, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Serbia and other European Union countries studied at the university, most of whom were transferred to higher education institutions of Ukraine during the evacuation of the university from the city of Luhansk.

In the following years, their contingent was gradually restored, and in 2021 the Preparatory Department for Foreign Citizens was resumed at the University’s International Relations Department, where Indian, Nepal, Chinese, etc. were admitted to Ukrainian language training courses in a short period of time.

This year’s graduation of foreign students is special for the university, because the graduation took place in the active phase of the war and the relocation of our institution to three cities of Poltava region – Poltava, Myrhorod and Lubny. The unpredictability and speed of the deployment of hostilities in the Luhansk region, where before the events of February 24, 2022 the university was located, determined the priority of resolving the issue of evacuation of foreign students. As a result, during February 25-26, some foreign students were transported to the western border of Ukraine and further to Turkey and European countries. At the same time, the presence of a powerful educational portal at the university, as well as the willingness of teachers of foreign languages ​​to work with foreign contingents under any circumstances have led to the successful completion of most of them this year.

Thus, proud of the perseverance and dedication of students and scientific and pedagogical staff of the institution, the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​continues the best institutional traditions in providing educational services to foreign citizens, which is reflected in the solemn procedure of handing over documents on higher education. This event is held annually with the involvement of the highest leaders of the institution – the Rector of the university, the Chairman of the Academic Council and the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages.
