Participation in the open lecture

The higher education applicants majoring in 052 “Political Science” together with teachers took part in an open lecture.

On June 15, students of bachelor’s, master’s and PhD degrees in specialty 052 “Political Science” together with teachers of the Department of Political Science and Law joined the open lecture by Ivan Gomza, PhD in Political Science, Head of the Department of Public Administration of the Kyiv School of Economics on the topic: “Belshazzar’s Feast: the Nature of the Political Regime in Russia and the Russian Attack on Ukraine.”

The main messages of the lecture were:

1. Did you know that political science actually predicted that Putin would attack Ukraine? And it’s not just about the imperialist desires or disgust that the “former” KGB member feels about the country of the two revolutions, but about the nature of the political regime in Russia.
2. There is a clear statistical probability that a personalist authoritarian regime will attack a young democracy. Do you want to know why?
3. And what about the age at which dictators tend to start wars?
4. And how is the nature of the Russian regime related to the activities of its military?
5. How often does a losing dictator lose power?
Discussing the nature of the regime in Russia has made it possible to understand how Ukraine needs to respond to the trials of war and how it needs to restructure in the future.
