Participation in the All-Ukrainian flashmob
28.5.2022
Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University joined the All-Ukrainian flashmob, singing the song “Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow.”
On May 25, the teams of our university and Poltava University of Economics and Trade received a baton from Poltava V.G. Korolenko National Pedagogical University and sang the anthem of the Sich riflemen “Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow”, which became a song-symbol of Ukrainian resistance to military aggression in Russia. The Poltava City Brass Band, whose artistic director and conductor is Honored Artist of Ukraine Eduard Holovashych, was invited to implement this project. The performance took place during the concert for migrants “Art for Peace”, which was conducted by the brass band at the Poltava University of Economics and Trade.
The audience enjoyed listening to works performed by soloists-vocalists Viktor Shcherbakov (“We Have Something to Defend”), Olesia Mai (“Not Your War”), Ruslana Khrystychenko (“I look at the Sky”, “Chernobryvtsi”), who is a teacher at the Department of Music Art and Choreography of the university, and instrumental compositions on the themes of Ukrainian songs, some of which were conducted by a graduate of the specialty “Music Art” Volodymyr Smirnitskyi.
The rectors of Poltava and Luhansk universities, Oleksii Nestulia and Olena Karaman, thanked the concert and passed on the baton, noting that our tests are temporary. And with the song “Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow”, we raise the fighting spirit of Ukrainians, who are united and firmly confident in the coming Victory.
We would like to express our gratitude to the Poltava Brass Band and its artistic director and chief conductor Eduard Holovashych for the realization of this plan.
