Basics of Landmine Safety

Today, May 25, an online lecture on “Basics of Landmine Safety” was held at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

The issue of safe handling of explosives is currently extremely important and is due to the extreme urgency of the risks associated with detecting unknown objects and informing university staff and students about the rules of conduct in case of mines and explosives. Thus, Oleksandr Olifirov, a CIVIC military relations specialist and Candidate of Technical Sciences, deepened the knowledge of students and university professors about the rules of handling explosives and substances.

The lecturer spoke about the main aspects of landmine safety, types of mines and the principle of their operation, the rules of handling explosive devices; demonstrated visual models and models of explosive objects and an educational film on safe behavior and sequence of actions in detecting suspicious objects; focused on the basic rules of safety, emphasizing that the most frequently changed areas where people move every day, in particular the roadside.

Oleksandr Oleksandrovych explained in an accessible form what the danger is, focusing on potentially dangerous places and basic rules of conduct when detecting suspicious dangerous objects.

During the event, attendees had the opportunity to ask their questions and get comprehensive and competent answers.
