Concert for the university students of the third age

On May 18, a concert for the university students of the third age took place at the University on the basis of Poltava University of Economics and Trade.

The event was organized by the teaching staff and students of the university in honor of the end of the academic year.

“University of the Third Age” is a socio-pedagogical service for the elderly. This project is not so much educational as social in nature, as the education of older people is aimed primarily at improving their social comfort in a modern, changing life, raises the level of their functional literacy and social competence. New knowledge can be supplemented here by studying at various faculties and specialties.

The event was opened by the founder of the University of the Third Age Svitlana Nestulia. She addressed the 55+ audience with congratulations and stressed that they are the bravest, the most talented, the wisest, the most respectful. Oleksii Nestulia, Rector of Poltava University of Economics and Trade, thanked the teachers who provide the educational process of the newly established University. He spoke about the social project and the history of the institution and stressed the growing number of students.

A special feature of the concert was the performance of Yurii Kyrychenko – People’s Artist of Ukraine, lecturer at the Institute of Culture and Arts of LTSNU, winner of the national competition of chamber singers “Golden Autumn”. He performed a work from the film Schindler’s List under the violin solo with the orchestra. At that moment, the crimes committed by Russia against Ukraine were broadcast in the background through a projector, which allowed the people of Poltava to feel the pain and suffering brought by the war.

Together with her colleagues, the event was attended by the Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Olena Karaman, who made a closing speech, congratulating the graduates and wishing everyone creative success, inspiration and victory.
