Vyshyvanka Day in Poltava

Today the staff of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University celebrated the Vyshyvanka Day in the city of Poltava. 

On May 19, the university staff celebrated the Vyshyvanka Day at the newly created workplaces. Due to the holiday a mini-concert was organized at the Poltava Academy of Continuing Education named after M.V. Ostrogradskyi. The concert is organized by the structural subdivision of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University – the Educational and Research Institute of Culture and Arts.
The event was opened by our Rector Olena Karaman, who congratulated the entire staff of the higher education institution, emphasizing that “vyshyvanka is not just clothes for our people, it is something very special. It is the national object of pride of Ukrainians, the main amulet and symbol of identification of our people.”

Preserving the traditions of the university, the head of the institution presented embroidered shirts to the youngest, most valuable members of the team – newborns, handing them to parents and teachers.

Vitalii Zeliuk, director of the Poltava Academy of Continuing Education named after M.V. Ostrogradskyi, with whom the head of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University exchanged gifts. Ms. Olena presented a “rushnik” – Ukrainian embroidered towel, and Ms. Vitalii presented a unique, two-volume Poltava edition of Ivan Kotlyarevsky’s Aeneid, the founder of new Ukrainian literature.

At the end of the event, everyone had the opportunity to make quality portraits in vyshyvanka.
