Symbol of the fate of the Ukrainian people

The Department of Physical Therapy, Ergotherapy and Human Health has traditionally celebrated World Vyshyvanka Day.

The World Vyshyvanka Day is an international holiday, launched in 2006 by students of the Yurii Fedkovych National University of Chernivtsi, celebrated annually on the third Thursday in May. The slogan of this year’s Vyshyvanka Day was the phrase “Vyshyvanka – the Spiritual Armor of Ukraine! Defend Your Own! Ukraine is the Armor of the World!”

Traditionally, the celebration of the holiday was joined by graduates and teachers of the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports. The moderator of the online event “Vyshivanka – Amulet, a Bright Symbol of the Fate of the Ukrainian People”, organized by the Department of Physical Therapy, Ergotherapy and Human Health, was a first (bachelor) graduate in 227 Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy Klara Bondarenko.

During the event, participants learned about the history of embroidered shirts, the importance of patterns and geographical features of the ornamentation of Ukrainian shirts, customs, traditions and rituals associated with embroidery, etc.

The event took place in a warm, cozy, friendly atmosphere, but with longing in the heart, as the insidious enemy who attacked Ukraine is trying to destroy exactly what the embroidered shirt symbolizes – Ukrainian roots. However, in the words of Metropolitan Epiphanius, “Vyshyvanka is a unique, special symbol of Ukrainians, which unites us all for victory, so long-awaited and dreamed of, suffering and just!”.

Ukraine will win!

Glory to Ukraine!
