An online event dedicated to the World Vyshyvanka Day “Vyshyvanka Unites Ukraine” took place on May 19 at the Educational and Research Institute of Economics and Business.
Ukrainian vyshyvanka is an exquisite work of art, a cultural marker of our state, a symbol of the inviolability of national traditions and the indomitable spirit of the people. Every year, celebrating World Vyshyvanka Day, Ukrainians demonstrate unity of thought and opinion.
The Vyshyvanka Day is traditionally celebrated at the Educational and Research Institute of Economics and Business. This year, due to the full-scale war, the holiday was held online.
At the beginning of the event, the Director of the Institute Valerii Khmel greeted the audience. He thanked the students for their resilience and wished peace and prosperity to Ukraine.
Then there was an online lecture on “Vyshyvanka Unites Ukraine”, conducted by Deputy Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Economics and Business Oleh Chernysh. He told the audience about the history of the World Vyshyvanka Day, traditional embroidery ornaments that are in every region of Ukraine and mentioned the origins of Ukrainian embroidery, which go back to the times of Trypillia and Scythian cultures.
Attendees viewed photos of traditional Ukrainian embroideries and told about the traditions of embroidery that have developed in their families.
