Participation in the meeting of the Working Group “Environmental Security”

On May 13, the Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Natalia Matsai, took part in the meeting of the Working Group “Environmental Security” of the National Council for the Recovery of Ukraine from the Consequences of the War.
The National Council for the Recovery of Ukraine from the Consequences of the War was established by the Decree of the President of Ukraine of April 21, 2022 No. 266/2022 “Issues of the National Council for the Recovery of Ukraine.”
The Working Group “Environmental Security” was established to develop proposals for the Recovery Plan of Ukraine on environmental security, conservation, biological and landscape diversity, reproduction and sustainable use of natural resources, formation and implementation of effective climate policy, waste management system, environmental monitoring, digital transformation, environmental reform, implementation of European directives.
The Head of the Sector was Danylo Oleksandrovych Hetmantsev, People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Doctor of Law, Professor; curators of the group were: Ruslan Oleksandrovych Strilets – Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine; Oleh Volodymyrovych Bondarenko – People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management; Rostyslav Ihorovych Shurma – Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. The secretary of the group wa Tetiana Valentynivna Tymochko – Adviser to the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
The meeting was opened by Ruslan Strilets, who outlined the working tasks of the group and stressed the importance of working to restore Ukraine from the effects of the war. The group members also heard Oleh Bondarenko, who identified key markers of the group’s work. The moderator of the meeting was Tetiana Tymochko.
During the meeting, all members of the group made suggestions for further work. In turn, Natalia Matsai shared her thoughts on the necessary accents in the Program on the experience of Luhansk region development during the last eight years after the end of active hostilities in 2014.
