Training in Germany

Students of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports are training in Germany.

Due to the start of a full-scale war in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Handball Championship will not be completed. This decision was made at a meeting of the Committee for the organization and conduct of FGU competitions. The official website of the Handball Federation of Ukraine has published a statement that the men’s and women’s national championships of the 2021/22 season will not be completed. But despite the difficult situation in the country, our players do not stop!

Currently, the youth national handball team of Ukraine is in Germany, where training camps are held. Permission to hold this meeting was granted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.

Trainings are held on the basis of a sports camp in Rostock. The national team included students of the Educational and Research Institute of Physical Education and Sports of our university – Dmyto Redkin (first-year student) and Mykyta Zorkin (second-year student). Unfortunately, due to hostilities, our coaches could not go with the athletes. At the invitation of the Handball Federation of Ukraine, the training process was led by Master of Sports of International Class of Ukraine Jan Wieżbowski, who has worked in Germany for many years. By the way, Yan Antonovych was a player of the Burevisnyk team (Luhansk) for many years, and he won the honorary title of representing our university as a member of the Ukrainian national team at the 2005 World Cup.

In addition to training sessions, our players also take part in control matches with their peers from Germany.

We are sincerely grateful to the Mayor of Graal-Müritz Jochen Arenz for his quick and competent help! And we wish our athletes to prepare for the upcoming competitions with dignity and win!
